Welcome everyone, and thank you for visiting me here.
I have been working on my debut album for the last 12 months and would like to ask your help in getting it over the finishing line and released!
It all started back in 2013 when I went to a rehearsal studio in Kreuzberg with my producer and guitarist Josh Teicher, and spent a couple of hours recording my kalimba through guitar amps and generally having a good time with no expectations of what would come out of it. In fact, the outcome of it was Do You Ever?, which we released ourselves back in October 2013 with a $0 promotion budget and it FAR exceeded what I hoped for it. It's received regular rotation on Flux FM, Funkhaus Europa, Radio Mulit-Culti and Detektor.FM here in Germany, and it was played on "Faking It", a television show on MTV in the US.
That encouraged us to record a full album - a personal goal of mine, and milestone as an artist. So for the past year I've been recording at home and in a studio in Berlin with a fantastic team - Josh, as producer, and Jonny, our tireless engineer, with the help of a starting grant from the Berlin Musicboard. We've recorded 12 songs that have been tried and tested on the road (208 live shows since moving to Berlin in mid-2011!).

Now the album needs to be mixed, and I’ve really excited to announce that I’ve enlisted the help of Eli Crews (NYC) - the mixing engineer behind tUnE-yArDs’ last two albums, who has also worked with Questlove, Lorde, Deerhoof and many others.
This last year was the first year I was able to support myself purely from my music alone, and I have invested some of this back into the recording of the album. However I’m still a totally independent musician (no label and no manager) and need your help for the next stage - paying for a mixing engineer, the mastering process, and printing CDs and vinyl.
This is where you guys come in! I’ve put together a bunch of rewards that I hope are attractive to you - handwritten lyrics, kalimba lessons, house concerts and more, check them out on the side of the page. You can also just pre-order the album if you wish. If you're not in a situation to contribute, just sharing this page amongst your social networks and friends is hugely helpful!

How The Funds Will Be Used
The funds for this project will go towards the mixing and mastering (€7000), CD and vinyl production and artwork (€2500), and administration costs (€500).
If more money is raised than the target goal, the bonus amount will be put aside for publicity and a music video (which currently I intend to fund from what I earn from touring this year), to get this album out to as many people as possible!

The Challenges
It's pretty nerve-wracking putting yourself out there like this! But I'm also really excited about inviting you guys to join in on the process and to help create this album, and I'm so excited to see what Eli Crews brings to the music.
