Sophie Keye

Hi, I’m Sophie Keye and I'm so excited to announce that I’m recording my debut EP of 5 original songs this year. I wrote most of these songs during my time studying music at Melbourne University when I was wrestling with suffering, and the truth and relevance of my Christian faith. It's my hope that these song will bring great beauty and encouragment to everyone and help start conversations about the bigger questions of life. I also see this as an amazing opportunity to learn from many professional musicians and hone my skills as an independent artist. I've been working with my music producer over the past several months and will start recording my vocals in May. It's going to cost around $6000 for my songs to be recorded and produced which includes things like the arrangements, session musians and studio hire etc. You can see a break down of the costs in the pie chart below. My goal is to fund at least $4000 of these costs through pre-sale by May 7th.  If you like what you hear, you can help this project become a reality by pre-ordering my EP. Challenge 1: Being vocally ready for my recording in May

Solution:  I have been having vocal lessons in order to prepare for recording this EP. I have also put regular practice into my schedule so that my voice will be at it's optimum performance when the recording begins in May.  Since I have been classically trained, I will also be having some coaching on how to sing in a more contemporary style which fits the sound of my music.

Challenge 2: Financial

Solution: I will be paying for the recording in installments between May - July which will enable me to pay for the EP recording and production in a more managable way. I am also working part-time to help cover the costs of the EP.

Challenge 3: Developing my profile an artist

Solution: As an emerging artist, one of the biggest challenges is developing my artist profile and reaching a larger audience. After I finish recording in May, I will be working on promoting and launching my EP but you can help me with this too.
