Tailor Birds

Ahhhhhhh our violin, our beautiful red bridge electric violin was stolen.  It still hasn't been found, and so we need to get a new one, otherwise we cannot play anymore shows, record any new music, we're literally at a standstill until we find a new violin.

And so we need your help.

Oh and if you're wondering who Tailor Birds is, here's our story :

Born and raised in London, UK, playing the violin since the age of 7, now for over 30 years, performing in orchestras, string quartets, choirs, solo performances and more.....Sophie (aka Tailor Birds) has developed her craft over the years.  Moving to Australia a number of years ago, she has since, performed and recorded for various acts, and since 2012 she has been writing, recording, producing her own music, her unique brand of dream folk, under the name Tailor Birds.

Tailor birds is totally independent, self financed, and currently has no big management or producer behind her.  And so 2019 marked a 7th European tour, and coming to the end of that, she was all set to record her 3rd album.  However, her car was broken into, literally just a few hours after her final gig of the tour.  Her violin, her red beauty of an electric violin, one that she has had for 19 years, bought second hand at the time, (one of the original electric violins made by Bridge).  This was stolen, along with her 2 violin bows, one made in Germany and the other in Holland, all in her violin case, plus her Roland cube amp.  Extremely distressing, we went live on facebook a few times, we shared shared shared pictures of our instrument, went into numerous instrument shops in Dublin, and we even put out a €500 reward for the return of the violin.

However, we've had no luck so far.......with Bridge being an amazing company, they've leant us a 4 and a 5 string violin for this past month or so of recording, however, to actually complete this record, and to be able to continue her job of playing music, touring, and recording, we have to get a new violin........this will likely be a 5 string, as if the red bridge turns up, then its' not been just replaced.  And so, our insurance company has paid us some of the funds needed, but this is not enough to cover all that we need.  And so we need your help!!!!!!!!

Live looping, electric violin goodness, Sophie is a full time touring artist, playing festivals, gigs, street shows, markets, and everything in between, performing day and night.  However, the stolen violin has stopped Sophie in her tracks.  With a fresh new album of music, set to release in 2020, she needs your help, as without a violin, she cannot move forward.  We would love your help, to get us back on the road, back doing what we love.

All of your support is massively appreciated, and if we somehow manage to raise more funds than the stated amount, then we can actually get a more developed violin, as well as going to the publicity of the new album, and quite possibly the build of a see-through clear violin for others to also be able to buy.  Thanks a mil......love you all.  xx

It may seem costly, but instruments, great ones, are expensive.  Our acoustic violin stretches into the $15,000 mark.  Good instruments take years of learning how to make them, to build something that sounds divine.  Our violin, the core of our work, we need something great to replace the irreplaceable.......and so the figures below, represent this, hence the difficulty to cover the cost of this ourselves.

Our insurance has paid us just over €2,400, but we need a little bit more :

• Bridge electric violin : €1,500 - €2,330 (price is dependent on whether it's a 4 or 5 string, a custom build, bought second hand or new etc.)

• Violin bows :
  - Dublin, Ireland : Crehan Musical Instruments : €1,995
  - Dutch bow maker : €3,500

Additional performance tools needed to be replaced :

• Roland Cube amp : €450
• Violin case : €150
