UPDATE: Stretch Goal!
Wow! I've reached nearly double my original goal!! At this stage, I think I can invest in:
a) an even better new camera body (a Canon Mk 5D II)
b) Three new Sigma lenses

Note on INTERSTATE shoots:
As I grew up in Sydney, I know a lot of people in Sydney. If you are in Sydney and interested in having a shoot, please get in touch. I will be up in Sydney next year at different points during the year and can make time for your shoot. Those dates aren't set yet, however. I am also likely to visit Canberra at some point next year.

I've just launched a new photography business (www.sophietimothyphotography.com), but I need to upgrade my gear. Through this Pozible campaign, I can raise enough money to invest in new lenses and a new camera body, all of which will make my work as a photographer an even greater joy, and the product I offer my clients, even better.




I was given my first digital camera when I was 17. I was consumed by a desire to document everything, to capture light hitting upon the world in its beautifully mercurial way.



At 21 I was given my first Digital SLR, which stretched my skills and inspired me to keep pursuing beauty in the world. A few years later I invested in my first prime lens, affectionately known as "the hot lens". The hot lens has been a wonderful companion, joining me on the most mundane and extraordinary of days. But as I take this next step into the world of professional photography, she's just not quite enough to get me by.



In order to capture the magic of that first kiss, the wrinkly beauty of a newborn or the ochre plains of the outback, I need a few more strings to my bow. And that's where you come in.



The incentive for you is that I am offering discounted rates for my services.

If you give $20 to the campaign, I will give you beautiful print of one of my photographs (8x10").

If you give $120 towards my campaign, I will give you a 1-2 hour portrait session (family, individual, pet, commercial, whatever you wish!), plus the high-res images and 5 prints from your shoot. That's $40 off my usual session fee!

If you give $800 towards my campaign, I will offer you a full-day wedding shoot (in Melbourne). That's nearly half my regular fee, and thousands less than most wedding packages out there.

For $1000, I will offer you a full-day wedding shoot (in Melbourne, or Sydney if I am in the city at the right time), plus an engagement shoot.

For $1200, I will offer you the full-day wedding shoot, plus engagement shoot, plus 10 of the best shots as prints, plus a beautiful wedding album of the best moments of the day.

With this campaign, I'm aiming to raise $2000.

What's possible with $2000?

I should be able to buy:
a) A new second hand camera body (perhaps a Canon 7D)
b) One or two second hand top-quality Canon lenses

Some people might feel like it's strange to ask for money towards investing in equipment which I could save up for as my business grows. But the way I see it, this Pozible campaign is an opportunity for future clients to pay up-front, discounted rates for incredible services. If I can invest in quality equipment now, your photos will come out better, sooner. For me, it's an opportunity to invest up front, and build a great client-base.

It is a risk doing a Pozible campaign, as if I don't meet my target, I won't get any of the money. But I'm confident that if people recognise what a discount I'm offering, and see the vision for my business, they will come aboard.
