We're going to China!!
Maybe.
We have been given an amazing opportunity to tour throughout mainland China.
As part of the tour we will be playing 7 concerts, including works by Australian composer, Elena Kats-Chernin.
The tour is organized by Wu Promotions. (You can see our tour on their website here ) They invited us for the tour after hearing us perform in the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition last year.
This is an awesome opportunity for us, but there's only one catch....we have to pay for our own flights to get there. Everything within China is paid for by the promoter. Our flights will take us through Shanghai, where we will perform the tour as part of a 2 week stopover on our way to an Australian tour directly after. Our pozible project is to secure funding for these flights. We had our hopes pinned on getting grant funding through the usual channels (eg ozco etc) but nothing has come through. We still really want to do the tour!!! That is why we have come to pozible to ask for your help!
The trio is going through a phase of expansion at the moment, and an international tour to the worlds most important emerging economy is something that is too exciting for us to pass up.
Here is the tour schedule:
1 Nov arrival in Shanghai
2 CONCERT - Shanghai Oriental Arts Center
3 Transfer to Hefei
4 CONCERT - Hefei Arts Theater
5 Transfer to Chengdu
6 CONCERT - Sichuan University
7 Transfer to Changsha, CONCERT - Hunan Grand Theater
8 Transfer to Nanning
9 CONCERT - Nanning Theater
10 Transfer to Dongguan, CONCERT - Donghu Theater
11 Transfer to Beijing, CONCERT - Tsinghua University
12 Transfer to Shanghai, Departure from Shanghai
Here are the pieces we are performing:
Joseph Haydn - Piano Trio in C Major Hob XV/27
Elena Kats-Chernin - "The Spirit and the Maiden" & "Gypsy Ramble"
Franz Schubert -Adagio Es-Dur, op.post.148, D897, Notturno
Astor Piazzolla -"Verano Portena" and "Primavera Portena" from The Four Seasons
Maurice Ravel - Piano Trio in A minor
Ludwig van Beethoven - Piano Trio in E flat Major Op. 70 No. 2
The funding would go towards the cost of 4 flights (3 trio members plus cello) from Europe to Australia, via Shanghai, where the tour would take place in the first stopover.
