Celeste is a short film written and directed by Nick Atanasoff and produced by Sumi Skellam. Nick first came to the material after reading Colette’s Break of Day and was inspired by the imagery and themes to write the script. Sumi was drawn to the project because it explores ideas of women's independence and of people developing compassion for animals.
Shooting will happen in the Blue Mountains of NSW, over two days in winter 2014. Location images follow.

Celeste showcases the talents of Rainee Lyleson (TV – Home and Away, Dance Academy, short film – Chart Star ), Tristan McKinnon (short films – Old Molly, Nocturnal and many others) and Amanda Mikhael (short films – Candlelight, Pick Up, Mirror Mirror and others, feature – Red Rabbit Lodge).
We have cast Rainee Lyleson in the title role of Celeste. Amanda Mikhael has the role of Rosie, Celeste’s friend, whose house in the country Celeste is visiting. Tristan McKinnon plays Rosie’s neighbour, Peter, whom Rosie invites to dinner, thinking he would be a good match for Celeste.

Your Rewards

Our rewards, we hope, are something you will treasure!
Reward Photos will be good quality images taken as stills during the shoot.
A sample 8 x 10" Calendar Reward is shown here (with stills from the trailer). Something you can use and also enjoy as a keepsake of a film that you helped fund.
Note that calendars will use images from the actual shoot. 8 x 10" is slightly smaller than A4.
Limited edition rewards are available as well, such as the hand-written letter used as a prop for the film. There are only 2 copies of this, and the contents of the letter (from Celeste’s mum to Celeste) will only be known to Sumi, Nick, Rainee and the two people who select this as a Reward!
