What's It All About....
The basic  idea of the race is just to get young people thinking about the simple ways we can all make a difference for the environment.

‘Amazing Enviro Race’, a physical and mental challenge for teams of two based on TV’s Amazing Race Australia.
The twist of the ‘Amazing Enviro Race’ is that the ten challenges participants face as part of the five kilometre course, are all based around issues of environment and sustainability. The race is open to 13 to 21 year olds.
Challenges include, planting a tree for Landcare, completing a slalom course while carrying a bucket holding 37 litres of water (the same amount as a five minute shower), and successfully conquering the game of ‘Recycling Bin Bingo’.

The Future....
In 2015 we want to make it bigger and better for everyone. The event has been held previously and attended by 60+ competitors plus spectators. It has been extremely well received with competitors enjoying the event and expressing a desire to do it again and bring their friends. Our aim is to boost the number of entrants  and raise as much awareness for the event as possible so we can get the "Keep Calm Go Green" out there to as many young people as possible.

What the kids are saying....

Participant Oscar Mitchell said he enjoyed what was his first ‘Amazing Enviro Race’.
‘I was pretty keen to do the race, just to try it out, but I can’t believe how much fun it was. Everyone was laughing and there were some pretty crazy costumes. My favourite challenge was probably the recycled collage outfits. I thought we probably deserved a prize for our character’s egg-carton-six-pack,’ Oscar said, ‘I would definitely do it again next year.’

Entry is free for all  and prizes are awarded for the winners in each age group and for other categories such as showing initiative and creative solutions.

Volunteers.... (which the race couldn't run without)
The race stations have been designed and manned by volunteers from Landcare, Tamworth Regional Council, North West Local Land Services, and other community groups.

What is Tamworth  Landcare?

Tamworth Landcare

The Tamworth Regional Landcare Association (TRLA) is a community of ordinary people, who are working together to maintain the health of our local environment, and make a real difference to the future of our planet.

Landcare is a uniquely Australian partnership between community, government and business working to protect and repair our natural resources. There are around 6,000 Landcare volunteers doing their part across Australia. The Tamworth Regional Landcare Association (TRLA) is the peak Landcare association in our region, and includes the Peel River and adjacent catchment areas. We work to support local Landcare groups with on-the-ground works for biodiversity restoration and conservation as well as promoting education, communication and sustainability.
