Our co-production is called Long Lost, a story about an Australian woman, Ali, whose world is turned upside down when she finds out that she was adopted and has a sister in Glasgow. The film takes us on a journey with Ali and her best friend Paul as she tries to come to terms with her new identity and connect with a sister she has never known in an unfamiliar world. 

Our film is an Australian / Scottish co-production. We are students from both the WA Screen Academy in Perth, Western Australia and The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow.

The WA Screen Academy is a film school based at Edith Cowan University’s School of Arts in Humanities situated in Mount Lawley, Perth, Western Australia. In November 2016, the Screen Academy was acknowledged as a centre of excellence for screen content production through gaining accreditation and membership to CILECT, the international association of film and television schools, of which there are only five members in Australia.

Ranked third in the world for performing arts institutions, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland is the home of a multi-award winning screen department. Established in 1847 – and this year celebrating it's 170th anniversary – the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland is the only institution of it's kind with a thriving film school. Focused on collaboration between disciplines and specialised teaching, RCS showcases the best of Scottish music, dance, drama, production and screen.

The Screen Academy collaborates with the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts in the creation of our short films.  2017 will see the inaugural collaboration between the WA Screen Academy (WAAPA) and the prestigious Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS), whose acting graduates include Robert Carlyle (Full Monty) and James McAvoy (X-Men: First Class).

Our film is an Australian / Scottish co-production. We are students at the WA Screen Academy in Perth, Western Australia and The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. Our short film tells a story set in both Perth and Glasgow, and we are looking to raise funds to help us realise our ambitions for this film. Half of the film needs to be shot in Glasgow and surrounding areas, and the other half in Perth. The funds we raise in this campaign will help us with production design costs, travel costs and filming at locations in and round Perth and Glasgow. The more funds we raise for this film, the better chance it has of getting noticed. Bigger budget = better production. So when the film is made and ready to be marketed and submitted into film festivals, it may have a better chance of gaining notability if it's worthy of an audience...  better production values = better end product = better chance of winning at festivals!!!!

The biggest challenge we face is that we are all working on our first ever international film school co-production.  The cast & crew from the WA Screen Academy in Perth, Western Australia and The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow are working together to pre-produce, shoot and post-produce this film from different sides of the globe.
