Clearly Celtic First Album
Hello,
My name is Tamara Auer and I am a violinist.
I would really like to be able to get together enough funds to record an album with my 'Clearly Celtic' trio. The music we play is lively and fun to listen to and I am hoping that I can get it out to be heard by larger audiences.
At the start of this year I returned to Australia after having completed three years of study in classical violin and viola at the Milan Conservatory in Italy.
While studying in Italy I completed a world music elective and was given the opportunity to start playing a variety of different styles of folk music. Initially I began looking at American fiddle music, and then I went on to explore Scottish music and Irish music. I was also surrounded by musicians from other parts of Europe so I also got exposed to Gypsy and Klezmer music, German folk music, Finnish folk music and Albanian folk music.
Since being back in Sydney I have started up two folk bands:
The first, Clearly Celtic, is an Irish/Scottish/American trio, and what is great about the music we perform is that it gives the audience a lot of variety. We might play a famous Scottish tune, followed by a bluegrass piece which then leads into the famous American 'O Susanna' before finishing on a slow Irish ballad.
With my trio Clearly Celtic I have been performing a lot around Sydney (at the Sandringham hotel, the Bald Faced Stag hotel, the King St Theatre, Name this Bar Oxford St and the Town and Country Hotel St Peters) and the audience response at every venue has been amazing. Unfortunately all the gigs we have done up until now have been unpaid, but if I can find a way to record an album then we will be able to sell CDs at our gigs and get our name out there.

The other band I started is 'Balkansi Sydney Klezmer Band'. We play Klezmer/Jewish/Gypsy music and have also started performing at various venues around Sydney. Ultimately I would also like to record an album with this band as well. This is what we sound like:
