Friends! Family! Colleagues!

An incredible opportunity has come up! I have been admitted to an International Summer School Seminar in Barcelona for a week starting on July 8th.

I have been able to pay tuition fees and accommodation but I need your help with flights and living expenses to be able to attend!

This week long seminar will be a coming together of people from all walks of life with the same intention to investigate how to create fresh exciting alternative spaces of reimagining where new possibilities of healthier and more harmonious co- existences with each other and with our world for all can be realized by exploring a larger and greater understanding of modern world history from a multi-faceted lens and through diverse perspectives from many different civilisations.

These investigations and explorations are dear to be as a curious poetic human, critical thinker and essential to me as a multi-disciplinary performer, theatre director, event producer, creative workshop facilitator, peer to peer assessor, educator, writer, cross and inter- cultural consultant that works in the areas of performing arts, education, government, mental health, law and social justice.

As an arts practitioner and human that seeks more inclusivity and equality for all I am excited about the prospect of bringing more knowledge and more fire back from Barcelona to Australia into all that I do at a time in the world and in this country where critical engagement and thinking from different perspectives feels starved in public spaces and in our public discourse, I know I am hungry. The principle and ethos of leading from the heart and soul of which I am dedicated and committed to living by feels more necessary than ever before in an increasingly fast paced digital world system that can ironically disconnect us like never be. This global body we are part of right now seems to be largely denying the health of our eco systems, the well being of our communities, our spirits and personal bodies and I cannot enable this death and decay to happen on my watch without a fight always coming from a place of transforming rage into an ever expanding love and from the desire for the dissolution of separation towards unification where all of us can be sovereign and free beings.

Here is a little about what I have been up to lately. I have been performing as an actor in major productions with leading theatre companies telling important stories. Rosina in Thula Thula a South African play about three life long friends racially divided and dealing with the damaging after effects of Apartheid, Amina the star dancer in the competitive dance world in the award winning play Dance Nation that explores the significant turning points and processes that females undergo from girlhood to womanhood and what women can and cannot be in a hierarchical and patriarchal world and Benvolio in Bell Shakespeare’s latest gripping rendition of Romeo and Juliet using recent school shootings in the US and the rise of youth activism as the springboard just to name the highlights.

I have also been delving into the intersection of spoken word and music with incredible local superstar musicians who are advancing genre and form such as Ziggy Zeitgeist (30/70), Reuben Lewis, Blume, Sofala, Harmony Byrne etc.

With young people I have been running theatre and poetry workshops and masterclasses on self love as a cultural revolution and working in housing estates with young people of color to create a work about the superhero within.

With most of these projects being continuous and with their being more room to make bigger impact through gaining more knowledge and deepening my practice this opportunity is too good to miss! So I strongly invite you, if you  have the means to support me. And if you don’t could you please share my campaign with others so I can reach the target and bring on Barcelona at this particularly critical time in world history where we so desperately need agents of positive change to actively ensure the sustainabilty of humanity and the well being, health and care of our planet! It’s a critical time to take care of each other when love is in itself a revolutionary political act.

With much an ever deepening and expanding love,

Tariro
