King, Coward' is a short narrative drama that follows Andy Pitt, an average Australian youth, as he slowly learns the tragic circumstances surrounding a fatal brawl that he was involved in. The story tracks the reverberations of the tragedy, as they ferociously ripple through his friends, family and the media. These events ultimately lead to Andy's downfall as he learns that his actions truly effect the world around him.

"I'd like to extend an enormous thank you to everyone who has donated. Your assistance with the funding of this film will assure the project can reach it's full potential. Without your generosity, this wouldn't be possible" - Tavis Urquhart, writer/director.

How The Funds Will Be Used

We have been fortunate enough to have self-funded 90% of this film, however as with many films, there are always a few extra hidden costs that spring up to cause our budget to be slowly eaten up over time.

The funds we are hoping to raise will be to cover the final section of post-production on the film, sound design and the colour grade, and will also give us a kick start on our festival circuit, which will include marketing, submissions, and screening copies to be sent all over the world.

50% of the funds will go directly into our final post costs, 45% into festivals, and the final 5% for our pozible costs.

The Challenges

As with any short self-funded film, there will always be trials and tribulations that need to be tackled and that’s just to get the film into production. The amount of people that have given up their time and energy, usually for free, to get this film shot in 6 days over 2 weeks was extraordinary and we have strived to create a film that they will be glad to have donated their time into making.

Once into post-production, we were again faced with the challenge with building a story from the bottom up. Wrestling with removing scenes or lines of dialogue, to put together a film that our audience will watch and enjoy, but will also get the message that this film has been made to tell.

Now that we are so close to the finish line, our biggest challenge will be raising funds to get the professionals we need onboard, to mix our audio and colour grade our footage to put that final polish on the film to have it festival ready.

Our last challenge, along with every other short film, will be to market our story to the best of our ability to get it accepted into as many festivals as possible around the world. The way in which you approach the festival circuit can make or break and film, so we will be putting the rest of our raised funds into directing our film into the right festivals, hoping to find an audience that can experience this beast of a film we have put together for them and appreciate the story and also the effort involved in getting it up on the big screen.
