Hi! We’re Rosie & Dom: The Anywheres!

We’re a harmony duo from Melbourne, Australia. Some say we mix Americana, Rock, Country, Folk & Pop. We call it ‘Alt-Country’!

How did we get together?

Both Rosie & Dom have been staples of the Melbourne music scene for decades(!). Rosie has lent her voice to innumerable recording projects and live performances. Dom has juggled a career as a full-time cover musician whilst actively releasing original music for many years (and 8 solo EPs/albums).

In 2018 Rosie asked Dom to play guitar with her at a gig at a greyhound race meet(!)... during the first set break, Rosie said ‘Thanks for driving to the other side of Melbourne to do a gig with me’ and Dom said ‘Dude! I’ll play with you ANYWHERE!!!’ And so, The Anywheres was born!

What’s this campaign for?

In March 2020, we started recording our debut album with Damien Cafarella... And then COVID shut us down, took all our gigs (and thus all of our income) and stopped our record production from being completed with 3 songs still to record.

Luckily, we were able to finish recording in the few weeks that Melbourne was open before the State was plunged into lockdown for a 2nd time. Dom lives in ‘regional’ Victoria so Rosie was frozen out by the ‘Ring of Steel’. So, although the recording was done, any further plans to ‘release’ the record needed to be delayed... and delayed again... and again!

Fast forward to 2021 we’ve finally been able to plan our record release!

What’s this campaign for?

This campaign is essentially a ‘pre-sale’ campaign in order to raise some funds to help cover the costs associated with pressing Vinyl and CDs. Although we’ve been able to fund the album recording, mastering, photography & publicity ourselves, the shutdown of the Victorian entertainment industry (until recently, though it will be a LONG time until it’s back to normal... if ever...) meant that our individual 2021/2021 incomes have been severely impacted and, money that would’ve otherwise come in from gigging full-time... has not!

We are, of course, extremely excited to be able to launch the album with a full-band show at the Thornbury Theatre on Friday June 25. However, we’re aware that many people will not be able to make it to the show but would otherwise love to be part of launching the record and getting their hands on some vinyl, CDs &/or T-shirt! And, so, this campaign also serves to allow anyone to be part of our debut album launch, whether they can make it to the show or not :-)

Risks & Challenges

Everyone creative person has their own motivations for sharing their creations with the world. Rosie and Dom share a passion for not letting the litany of life’s adult distractions deter them from putting the time, energy and money into taking their music from the writing space, to the stage, to the recording studio and then through the painstaking administration processes associated with putting music out on CD, Vinyl and the streaming services! (OMG!! Soooo much admin!)

Why so passionate? Well, for ‘The Anywheres’ it’s simply necessary. If we don’t ‘make stuff’, we suffer. 

There’s a good chance only a few people will be interested in this project, and that’s a risk we’re prepared to take. And despite COVID completely ruining our plans in 2020, and in many ways turning life priorities on their head, we have already seen that investing so much time (and money) into ‘The Anywheres’ has brought joy to many people beyond ourselves.

Other Ways You Can Help

We understand that ‘Some Folks’ (that’s the title of one of the songs of our record!) aren’t in a position to spend money at the moment. And, many people don’t even have a CD or record player... And some people don’t like ‘Merch’!

But that doesn't mean they can't help:
