The Drowsy Maggies

After a fun and exciting first year of playing together The Drowsy Maggies (previously known as Full Swing) are keen to record their debut album . With many requests from their festival audiences, the girls have discovered that there are many folkies (and non-folkies alike) out there who would love to take their music home with them. To make this pozible, we've set a goal of $5,000 to hopefully record in the first half of 2016 .



The band was formed in January 2015 when all four members won the Stars on the Lake award as part of the Koroit Lake School of Celtic Music and Dance. Ari Lane (vocals, guitar, cajon) & Rhiannon McArthur (vocals, guitar, harmonica) have been playing their harmony-filled orginal songs together as a duo throughout Ballarat and Daylesford since 2014. Jordy Hickey (double bass) has been involved in Camperdown's music scene for many years including playing with the music group Tuniversal. As for Adelaide's Caity Brennan (fiddle), she has been heavily involved in the traditional irish music scene and is well known for her fiery fiddle playing. During their first year together, they played at many festivals (including Port Fairy Folk Festival, The National Celtic Festival, Maldon Folk Festival and Newstead Live) under the name 'Full Swing'. As their one year 'bandiversary' quickly approached, they decided it was time for a name change and are now The Drowsy Maggies.

We intend to use this money primarily for recording (the studio-time snack fund will be generously provided by our parents...hopefully). 
The costs will cover our studio time, travel,  mixing/mastering, album artwork, booklets and the CD's themselves. If there are any remaining funds they will be used to assist in launching the new album! Hooray!

One possible obstacle that may interfere with our project is finding a good time to record that suits all four members of the band. Due to study commitments, we aim to record early in the year before members of the band return to uni and VCE or during the term breaks.
