STORY OUTLINE


The Lavender Arrangement is a Comedy/Drama about closeted siblings, Nathan and Sarah. After Nathan lies that he is in a straight relationship with Sarah’s partner, he finds himself being pushed to come out before Sarah can reveal his secret to their religious mother - and on his birthday no less! As each birthday present is opened, it becomes harder and harder to keep up the lie and maintain his facade.



CAST


Sarah McNeil as The Mother

Sarah McNeil is an actor, producer, arts writer and MC. She has appared in theatre, film and television over 40 years. Sarah is also a producer and presenter of storytelling company, Lit LIve, working with professional actor to read short fiction live on stage, accompanied by live music. Sarah regularly MC's music, literature and arts events. She is also the arts editor for POST Newspapers.


Blaise Tindale as Nathan

Blaise Tindale, 22, is a third year acting student from WAAPA. He graduated from the acting diploma in 2019. Hobbies include, but are not limited to vinyl collecting, table top gaming and writing. He also loves a good road trip. Undertaking the lead role of Nathan, he is excited to try his hand at some drama and looks forward to bring the character to life.


Gabby Wilson as Sarah

Gabrielle Wilson is an emerging queer artist from Auckland, New Zealand. Torn between a passion for performance and years prepping for engineering, she moved to London at 18 in hope of some worldly wisdom (or divine intervention). A year immersed in stage and screen saw her swap out the rose-tinted glasses for an insatiable creative hunger, and she set her sights upon the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Now in her final year of Acting, Gabrielle eagerly anticipates a multi-faceted career as a creator, performer, comedian and waitress.


Tinashe Mangwana as Chris

All the way from Penrith Sydney, Tinashe is currently studying at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. There he has been involved in the Academy’s productions of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, ‘Human Cannon’ by Edward Bond and ‘Summer Rain’ Nick Enright. Before making the journey to Perth he was part of the ensemble of ‘Coram Boy’ by Helen Edmundson playing at the Kings Cross Theatre in 2019. His introduction to actor training came through the Academy of Film Theatre and Television where he completed his advanced diploma in 2018 whilst being involved in the play ‘image of an unknown young woman’ by Elinor Cook and Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’. He is ecstatic to be part of the Lavender Arrangement working with an amazing team as well.


Delia Price as Marie

Delia is an actor and singer currently based in Perth. After training in classical voice, and performing in a shows from Mozart to Sondheim, she decided to pursue journalism and worked for a year as an arts and business writer. It wasn’t long before the love of performance reignited however, and after travelling, and working for a brief period as a tour guide, she decided to pursue acting full time, and was accepted into WAAPA in 2020.

DIRECTOR

Xavier Jansen

Xavier Jansen is an up and coming filmmaker. He went into filmmaking after graduating high school and quickly found an innate love and incessant passion for the medium. This passion is a core motivator in his life at present as he completes the Master’s Degree at the West Australian Screen Academy, in directing.


PRODUCER

Tana Glassock

Tana Glassock is an emerging film maker with a background in cinematography and lighting. He has produced several projects in the past and The Lavender Arrangement is by far the most ambitious project he has tackled to date.


WRITER

Liam Longley

Liam Longley is currently studying at WAAPA and is an emerging writer with a background in acting. He is interested in personal work centred around stories that explore the nuances of what it means to be queer in today’s world.


CINEMATOGRAPHER

Tyler Isard

Tyler Isard studied at Murdoch University completing a Bachelor of Creative Media, majoring in Screen Studies and Drama & Theatre. Also taking elective units in photography he became interested in cameras and now is currently studying for his Masters at WA Screen Academy, majoring in cinematography.


SOUND RECORDIST

Jake Isard

Jake is a WAAPA graduate with a Bachelor of Music and working musician in Perth. Wanting to record and mix music, Jake went on to complete a Bachelor in Creative Media, with a double major in sound and screen production. Introduced to sound design for games, radio and film, Jake developed a passion for film. His knowledge in music has allowed him to expand music recorded and mixing skills into that of filmmaking where is he currently studying his Master’s in Screen Studies.


EDITOR

Solomon Little

Solomon Little is well versed in editing and an amateur writer. He hopes to approach this project with a budding attitude and go on to edit many big projects like this in the future.

Budget Overview

Our budget goal for this film is $2000, this will help us to secure an amazing location to film in, cater for our hungry and hard working crew, allow our production designer to get everything they need to bring this story completely to life, and much much more. With your help, The Lavender Arrangement can become the film it deserves to be.
