The
Steele-Winters Family collection at the Newberry Library contains half a dozen audio tapes made in the 1970s-1990s. These are invaluable family and historical records that have heretofore never been listened to, let alone transcribed. They range from musings about WWII by Helen Steele Winters, to recollections from Aunts May and Elizabeth Winters.
The Newberry Library has kindly digitized them, which finally makes it possible for them to be transcribed. Theresa, with the help of family members, will turn them into books to be emailed and saved in the Newberry's collection. But first they must be typed up.
To pay the transcriptionist, Julie, who is working on all the audio files. She charges $60/hr and there are approximately 8 hours of tapes.
Once the money is transferred, I will be able to pay Julie as she completes each tape's transcription.
