54 Days is a story about 5 people trapped in a nuclear shelter after a biological and nuclear attack. As the food, water and power runs out, the environment gets tighter and tighter forcing the group to make a decision none of us would want to make… either one dies or all five dies..
The movie explores how each of us would react to a situation where our very survival is at stake and how would we decide who sacrifices themselves for the sake of the group and possibly humanity itself. When our very survival is at stake our true character reveals itself…. Its only here we see who we really are....
Prepare yourself for an uncomfortable and challenging journey that twists and turns, keeps you on the edge of your seat and will make you question "How far would you go to ensure YOU survived?".

As a result of the very positive feedback from both audience members and industry specialists alike, we decided to approach the same creative team with an opportunity to produce a budget feature version of the movie. This was met with a resounding YES!!
So now we're putting our plans into action to shoot the full length feature film of 54 Days in early April - which is why we need your help and kind support.

About The Movie
Logline : After a series of nuclear explosions, 5 people are locked
in a nuclear shelter surrounded by radioactive and biological contamination.
They face an impossible decision when the food and water begins to run out: either one dies or all five die...
The movie is PRIMAL - at its core exploring the very issue of SURVIVAL. As the very environment outside and the nuclear shelter itself closes in on our 5 occupants, true colours are revealed, carefully constructed social facades begin to unravel, and dark secrets begin to emerge ...
Is survival always reserved for the fittest? Find out by supporting our campaign now!!

The Script
The narrative of our 5 survivors spans genres, appealing to fans of thrillers and cerebral character dramas as much as it speaks to sci-fi and post-apocalyptic aficionados.
A film with such intense subject matter needs its lighter moments - so see how the characters look after and care for a lonesome cockroach - their own symbol of hope and survival after the nuclear catastrophe.
Close research has resulted in the presentation of a complex and layered story to actors and audiences alike. We want to paint a picture of science fact, not science fiction.
Did you know, for example, that in the 2008 earthquake in China, where 65,000 people died (clearly an horrific disaster) the government sent radioactive technicians in? Did you also know that 3,000 miles (5,000 k's) of underground tunnels were found along with 3,000 hidden nuclear warheads - just check out the Georgetown University report from 2011.
Did you also know that the nuclear bomb in Hiroshima had 0.2 of a megaton of explosive power and yet in 1961, just 15 years later, the Russians tested a bomb called the Tsar which had the explosive power of 50 megatons - 250 times more powerful than Hiroshima! Imagine where the technology is now ...
Most nuclear shelters are built underground to take advantage of the insulation provided by layers of solid Earth - but practically it means you need some method to rid the confined space of the heat produced by the occupants and bring in more air to cool things down. Without this - people will cook in their own juices. If the electricity fails, what would happen to our characters?
You can find out in the 54 Days feature!

The Director's Vision
Our short film, 54 Days, was supported by a fantastic team of professional technical crew and cast. It was made on a very low budget with all cast and crew performing their roles without payment because they believed so strongly in the project.

We are working with the same enthusiastic team, and with your help we can improve the production values to make a great movie without the Hollywood price tag. The professional technical team, who all work in the film industry, WILL get paid (you pay peanuts ....) but most of their payment will be deferred from the earnings of the film, and they will also get a % of the gross profit of the movie. In this way we minimise upfront costs, but also get everyone involved in the promotion of the movie.
Most importantly we are not seeking government funding so that we can maintain our own creative freedom and integrity to bring you the best overall movie at a price point 100 times smaller than most Australian films, with a high quality cast and crew that are passionately committed to making something really special.
With our proposed production budget we can :
1) build a better, purpose-built set to markedly enhance the look and feel of the environment.
2) get better quality props.
3) work with better equipment.
In a word: make a quality movie we can ALL feel so proud of and YOU - our audience - will love.
As a microbudget feature film, we have tried to strike a precise balance between keeping costs down and production values way up, all the while maintaining creative integrity.
To achieve this we:
1) Are paying our cast, creative and technical team a token sum for the 9 day shoot.
2) We are giving creative freedom to all our team (within budgetary constraints, of course).
3) We are maintaining an open set – so anyone can inject a creative idea into the mix to improve the end product – to make it the best it can possibly be for you, our audience.
4) Once the movie is produced and available on digital platforms – for example, but not limited to iTunes, Amazon Video on Demand, hulu.com and the paid model for Youtube - each member of the technical and creative team will get the same similar fixed fee paid again.
5) Finally, once the costs have been recouped, each team member will get a % of the gross profits of the movie.
In other words: EVERY member of the team is incentivised, not only creatively but financially, to help us all make the movie a success.
We have a great team and want to share the success of the movie with everyone - including our wonderful supporters (like you!).
In addition, we are in discussions with a number of product placement partners, who are donating product to the production to help us squeeze out costs further.
One such supporting partner is Rosnay Wines - Very special thanks to Sam Statham and the team,
http://www.rosnay.com.au https://www.facebook.com/gofortheo?fref=tsThey very generously provided us with complimentary wine at our launch party. In addition they are providing us with the wine for our party scene (in the movie). This party scene - once filmed will also become the WRAP party - so we are squeezing out direct costs. In return we are providing product placement opportunities for Rosnay wines - currently we are looking at there being a key plot twist in the script which will involve the actual wine label - but you'll have to wait for the movie to be finished to see how that will be done.....(all rewards over $25 include a digital download of the movie - so please go support our rewards campaign and our sponsors!! - Thanks )
Overall, your support, financially and morally, will help us make a quality movie for a base production budget of $54,000. It will enable us to capitalise upon the creative life force that we have collectively developed and created through the production of our short movie - to make a movie that will not only stand out - but also stand the test of time.
With a fair and following wind, we hope to exceed our aim of $54,000 and any additional support raised will ALL go up on the screen – you'll see better set design, better quality props, more sophisticated effects and animations that widen the scope of the movie..
Our biggest risk is an overrun on the production budget of $54,000.
In order to mitigate this risk our production budgets have a contingency allowance of 10% in all areas of production and post production. Furthermore, we have negotiated additional credit cards that we will use as the need arises – after all, the show must go on!!
The other main challenge is going to be getting above the noise of other films out there. The movie we are creating is based upon a script that has proven success, with wide appeal across multiple genres and demographics. The full feature format allows for a more twisting, turning, thrilling, and ultimately cinematic approach to the storyline of the short. It explores the most primal of all our instincts – survival. How far would any of us go to survive, to protect ourselves ... and humanity?
The script is multi layered and will present many surprises and a depth of character that will engage even the most cynical of viewers. We want to engage, entertain and create something, we as a team, and you, as an audience, would WANT to watch.
We are working with some truly innovative ideas and are developing these vigorously!!
One of our key goals is to generate the emotional attachment of our audience to our cockroach - the truest symbol and metaphor for nuclear survival!!
Innovation, quality of script and performance will set 54 Days up as a movie people will want to engage with to help us rise above our competitors – via our innovative social media and marketing strategies – via WORD OF MOUSE!!
