WE'RE FUNDED! WE'RE ECSTATIC!!! PLEASE, KEEP IT COMING!!! We're still accepting pledges. Our goal was just 1/2 our production budget for the show, which means if you still feel the spirit of generosity which brought you to our lovely page then pledge on! We can still really use the extra funds!
Help us create and produce a show for the Melbourne Fringe Festival!
Here is our idea:
A NON Rom Com
Play Actually is a hilarious parody on dating, relationships and the consequences of playing people to get what you want.
The characters obediently take advice from books like The Rules of the Game and How to Train Your Man, and play their way to success using a series of famous games re-imagined for their sexual ambitions; for example 'Who Wants to Be a Cassanova', 'Womanopoly' and ‘Connect More’.
Interactive, witty, and ironically romantic, Play Actually pokes fun at how seriously we take ourselves in love.
Play Actually is an original production by Tim Monley (Australia) and Katy Houska (USA) who are both graduates of l’Ecole Philippe Gaulier in France. A theatre school internationally acclaimed for clown and bouffon.
The performance jumps from ridiculous interactive games to heart touching drama as these two players clumsily seek fulfillment. Led astray by dating books and success mantras their foolhardy attempts at romance soon result in absurd and sometimes devastating consequences.
We’ll be premiering the show in the Old Council Chambers at the Bella Union Fringe venue and we are asking for a little help from you…

FUNDING GOALS
Reaching our funding goal will cover the expense of a venue, publicity cost and some of our production expenses.
If we exceed our funding goal we will be able to get more help with our music, graphics, set, and costumes to more fully realise our vision.
