An “Aussie” Requiem for a Dream meets George Orwell’s novel Animal Farm.

Logline:

A re-imagining of the classic children’s fairytale. A young Melbourne man's illegal business takes off and is thriving until his pig-headedness sends everything awry. Inevitably he loses a newfound love and best friend.

Synopsis:

Simon and Ely have been best mates since high school. They live together, shop together, smoke and sell marijuana together. Ely works a “proper” job in an office while Simon sits at home wasting time. Simon spots an opportunity to expand the home business- selling harder drugs, and he secures a connection to a lucrative market through his already loyal client David. Business booms and Simon and Ely revel in the spoils. But, greed drives a wedge through ‘the boys'’ relationship until it disintegrates. Unforgivable betrayal leads to brutal conflict. The story isn’t always told sequentially and it's interwoven with the sub-plot of David’s fight for custody over his young daughter, where the “This Little Piggy” fairytale is introduced.

Project Overview

Flemhouse Productions is an independent motion picture production company, and Theatre Company assembled from young Australian actors, writers, & directors with the common goal of producing the high definition digital feature length independent film, This Little Piggy.

This Little piggy has been a process-driven feature film concept, born out of collaboration between director Tristan Barr and a high quality cast of actors who are currently training at the Victorian College of the Arts. The process involves the collaboration between the improvisation of actors under the direction of Tristan and the later crafting of the script through the writers of Flemhouse Productions. This process has been based on the works of other well-known writer/directors like Mike Leigh and Ken Loach.

This Little Piggy is intended for theatrical release, film festival screenings,and DVD home sales. Using a cast/crew deferred payment cooperative model where profit share is determined by the percentage of work contributed to the film, and with the generosity of a vast range of young up-and-coming volunteering artists we are able to set our budget at a very low and realistic figure.

Market Overview

This Little Piggy involves a team of young Australian artists that could quite possibly be the future of our industry. Our sights are on major festivals around the world, we intend to show that big budgets aren’t everything, but creativity and passion can amount to anything.

Now, in the technological age, participation in a broad range of screen-based activities is the norm. We see a boom in film festivals and cinemas around the world. There are more screens delivering more content in more ways and audiences are embracing these new experiences. Consumer desire for interesting new films and growing market demand create new opportunities for film makers. As our cast of creatives come from the technological age, we have access to a vast opportunity for marketing within social media avenues. The result is wider exposure for your business.

Why do we need your money?

This Little Piggy has many young creatives involved: actors, filmmakers, directors, writers, editors, sound designers, musicians, set designers, costume designers, and artists who are NOT even asking for payment for this project even though they probably desperately need it. That is because they have faith in the vision and the people they are working with. Your money will directly go towards these creatives furthering this vision:

• Hiring film and lighting equipment 

•Transport and Logistical costs

•Location hire and set design materials 

•Colour grading

•Costume and Makeup

• Entrance fees to major film festivals

• Catering 

Our initial budget is set at approximately $10,000, but we have halved that for the fundraising campaign to make sure we have reach our target and receive the money.  So please don't hesitate donating once our target has been reached, because the more money the better the film will be made and the more successful it will be.
