Independent filmmaker by night, trusty postal worker by day — but my ultimate dream is to make a feature-length horror movie to scare the pants off anyone game enough to watch it.

It’s not quite a feature film, but ‘The Finest Collection’ is my latest haunting short-film that follows the story of Pearl, an antique shop owner who has a terrifying experience one evening, when she encounters a paranormal presence that has returned to collect an item they can’t rest without.

I’ve wanted to make films since I was just a wee-lad, and became interested in more “full-on” horror from watching the behind-the-scenes of my favourite horror flicks. I watched the-making-of extras for a movie to the point where I realised that none of it was real, and that I could create this stuff.

So when I grew up I went to university, and like many a starry-eyed filmmaker, pretty much expected to walk straight out of school and into a paying film job.

But ‘reality bites’ and while for now I’ll have to keep the day job, my dream of creating the craziest, creepiest movie possible remains just as real.

I want to make a quality horror classic that Australian’s will want to talk about and I want to inspire somebody else like me to do this as well. And, if I can get paid to do this then I’ll never stop doing it – I’ll do it until I die.

The biggest challenge we're facing right now is making up the extra bit of funding we need to secure our cream-of-the-crop prosthetics makeup artist and the CGI rigging equipment.

If we reach the funding we need I know this film will be something really special and a real treat for audiences. If we don't, it will be a real challenge to produce a high-quality horror film that is believable and has the impact we're aiming for.
