Flow documentary
Update - thank you, and more thanking from Flow director, Simon. Thank you :)
Its been an amazing journey working on the Flow documentary for the last 2 years. Many laughs and few tears along the way. It has been more rewarding than I had ever imagined.
The people, places, photos, videos and of course the music!
From just a moment of inspiration we have now produced hours of content. Lots of insightful interviews, action, sights and sounds. Amazingly some old video, photos and music that remained hidden for years has now found the light of day. Thanks to the people that thought, " I reckon one day someone is going to love seeing this again".
They were right...

DJ Bribe (Angus) with Flava Flav of Public Enemy.
Now we are at the pointy end of documentary film making - editing. We have got some very passionate creatives who together are donating their time to this post-production process.
But unfortunately some costs cannot be avoided. Music licensing is one of them. The whole process gets complicated, confusing and costly - quickly.
The funds raised from this crowd funding campaign will go directly to pay for clearing music rights. So then we can have the licence to use cool songs for Flow without fear of breaking any copyright laws. Allowing us to show the documentary anywhere in the world.
This is why we need your support.
Thank you!
Simon (Producer/director).

WHY TELL THIS STORY?
Click and play the Flow teaser below.
Angus’s music knowledge, DJ skill and creativity are what we are talking about.
Angus is no longer with us. It is this loss to the Australian cultural community that has inspired me to tell his story.
It’s hard to think of another DJ that has such proficient skills firstly as a hip-hop DJ as well as a house & techno music DJ and being so successful at it.
Angus had unique skills, worked hard and was dedicated to the music above all else!
What we can do to protect his legacy is to create ‘Flow’.
Preserving the career of DJ Angus aka DJ Bribe for the Australian music culture because he represented so much more.
Before more water passes under the bridge and memories fade about a man that defined a generation.
It is about documenting a time in history to preserve it for our future.

Old school legends Barking Boy, Jen-E and Rousey sharing their stories.

THE DOCUMENTARY
Flow will be a half hour documentary profiling the life and rise of DJ Angus aka DJ Bribe.

In Brisbane Australia the nightclub scene of the late ‘80’s – early 90’s was an underground community, exploding with creativity, in stark contrast to the conservative mainstream of the time.
By the late ’80’s Angus had forged out his skills as a breakdancer and Hip-hop DJ in the pioneering days of Australian Hip – hop culture. Now Angus had made his mark in the history books as DJ Bribe.
Image from the Flow 'b-boy shoot'. Bending the rules of body movement.
But then the global dance music culture had arrived on Australia’s shores and Angus was armed and ready with the skills to take him to the top. It was not by chance he was there – it was dedication.
House and techno had become the soundtrack of a generation. The music was futuristic, the fashion was funky and its followers lived for the moment: a fat baseline and a thumping beat.
Angus had developed a unique style infusing hip-hop turntablism with techno music. This created an electrifying mix. A recipe that has been unrivalled and often imitated.
He continued this to gain stature as one of Australia’s top club and rave DJs through the 1990s. Working with many of the top DJs from around the world.
Superstar British DJ John Digweed asked Angus to scratch over his remix of the massive club hit ‘Intoxication’. Angus carried a copy of the record wherever he went.
In the eyes of his fans, Angus is a star.
Thank you for your support!

How The Funds Will Be Used
Each song costs between $3000 - $4000 + GST to pay for clearance rights in order to use it for the Flow documentary.
Also I need to finish paying the music supervisor for all their work.
I've been paying them with every independent film makers friend - the handy old credit card, but thats no longer my friend :(
Ultimately I would like to use 6 songs. Which comes to a total of $22,000 - ouch! But I figure aiming for a modest figure of $5,000 is a good start. If we go above and beyond that, the more songs we can use. You just never know how generous people can be.
But if we don’t reach our funding target, all pledges will be cancelled and your payment will not be processed.
We really hope you can support the project and give Flow the music it needs.
Thank you.
Simon.
