THIS PROJECT IS TO RAISE THE FUNDS TO ENABLE US TO:
* OBTAIN VIDEO PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT AND TAKE IT TO LOS PALOS IN TIMOR-LESTE
* TRAIN LOCALS IN FILM PRODUCTION, EDITING AND SOCIAL MEDIA ACTIVITIES
* LEAVE THEM WITH THE FILM PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE
Change the World®, the TV Series, was born out of desire by Producer Anne Tindall to make television that is anything but banal and indulgent.
This vision has grown into a powerful model of engagement between Change the World and local communities right around the globe.

At present, Change the world is working closely with a small community in Los Palaos in Timor-Leste.
We have worked hard here in Melbourne to raise the funds for them to build a much needed community/business/sustainability centre....to give this community a chance to:
* make some money
* create new jobs
* emerge from a crippling cycle of poverty
PART 1: We are making a documentary on the building of this centre and the struggle 'the agony and the ecstacy' as they move away from poverty to begin to make a new life and find new opportunities.
PART 2: THIS PROJECT - CREATE A FILM MAKING COMMUNITY IN LOS PALOS
We plan to take a small group of passionate locals under our wing and:
* set up a small but effective video production unit in Los Palos for the locals
* train them in all aspects of film-making
* leave the equipment/facilities with them (we are leaving a young volunteer for a period of 12 months after we leave to continue the training)
Los Palos is the cultural centre of Timor-Leste and was the heart of the resistance during their struggle against the Indonesian Military. During this time the only voice they had to the world was the guerilla films made by daring and brave journalists who got the real stories out to the world...costing many their lives!
The community in Los Palos has remembered this and has an ongoing passion for film...to use the power of film to engage with the outside world to come and discover the beauty and richness that is Timor-Leste.
Outside of Dili, most people live on the poverty line with no hope of a job and no way to make a few extra dollars to feed their families. The extraordinary thing is that despite the isolation and the poor infrastructure, wireless telecommunications are very good, extremely reliable and available everywhere!
Our project will enable the locals to make engaging films to be placed online that will help them:
* share their stories
* share the rich heritage of the country
* sell their arts/crafts/music
* offer amazing Eco Tourism packages to intrepid travelers
* give local young people a 'way out' of boredom and despair...and
* help them move out of the endless cycle of poverty!
