The story:

Set in rural Victoria, ‘What Remains’ is about Charlie (10) a reckless young boy who discovers and befriends a suit-wearing man named John, in the family's run-down caravan. It explores the disconnect between Charlie and his father Matt, and the boy's struggle with the abandonment of his mentally ill mother. The climactic scene of the film involves the burning of the caravan, a symbolic release for the characters.

The team:

Writer/Director: William Storr:
Will Storr is a final year writer/director at the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts. Will’s most recent film, Jacob’s Rose, shot on 16mm film was selected in competition at numerous film festivals across Europe, America and Australia. Most notably, Jacob’s Rose won the People’s Choice Award at the Pennine International Film Festival in the UK. Will has also been recognized for his cinematography talents, taking out the Best Cinematography award at a New Jersey-based film festival for his work in Treading Water.

Producer: Frances Wang-Ward
After working as an actor and voice artist in the tv and film industry for the last 15 years, Fran is turning her talents to producing short films. It's handy when she's got a law degree and finance qualifications to navigate the big bad world of producing. Fran has just finished production managing the Australian leg of "8 the Play" starring Rachel Griffith, Magda Szubanski, Daniel McPherson and Shane Jacobson. When she's not busy producing, Fran is fighting corporate crime and incubating her second bubba.

Production Manager: Tom Davies
Tom completed a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Honours) in 2009, before embarking on a career in TV advertising, having recently worked his way up to production manager in the commercial world. Currently he is working in the production department on Australia's Got Talent, and was recently offered the opportunity to direct the opening video to the Australia's Got Talent season finale, to air on the 25th of July.

Cinematographer: Jaque Fisher
Jaque is a talented Australian cinematographer, whose work has screened at film festivals around the world including Sydney Film Festival.

Production Designer: Andréa Browne
She's no stranger to professional music videos, short films, and commercials. With her extensive experience in production design and a history in graphic design, we are confident Andréa will be able to bring the script's world to life.

Steadicam Operator: Glenn Clayton
Not only is the man a killer bloke, Glenn has worked on feature films such as Blinder and Kath and Kimderella the Movie.

The objective:

We need some extra green to blow up and burn the caravan. It turns out special effects, safety and stunts cost a lot of money and we need every dollar you can spare to make it burn baby burn. (That's right, just the caravan. We won't be burning the actual dough we raise. No, that would be totes wrong.)

The nod of approval, or a wink, the next time Fran and Will see you out.

But seriously, you will be rewarded with a warm and fuzzy feeling of knowing you have contributed to the making of a FIL-UM...
