The Zine & Indie Comic Symposium is back for another year! We  welcome our new core organisers Anne Kelley, Copy + Destroy facilitator and creator of zines, and Johnny Valkyrie, creative professional and publisher of INKY. We thank Jeremy Staples, cofounder of ZICS for his mentorship this year! The collective have been hard at work developing another fantastic festival, and we need is your support to make it happen!

The Zine &  Indie Comic Symposium is your local nonprofit collective of passionate volunteers dedicated to connecting local zine and indie comic creators with the wider public. We strive to start inclusive conversations, collaborate on ideas, and share the art forms that we love.

We have been working hard at restructuring and growing the festival to suit the interests of the community and its collective. We are however, nonprofit and volunteer based, so we rely on your generosity to make this event happen. This is where the Pozible campaign comes in. When you pledge, you will be supporting the largest gathering of zine and indie comic enthusiasts in Brisbane, and will ensure the continuation of one of the biggest independant print festivals in Australia. Wow!  You can also help by purchasing tshirts, zine packs and other rewards. We welcome artists to contribute their works to the festival through purchasing tables and vending wares.

We hire professionals to share their passion and creativity with the public, bringing the element of 'accessibility' in zine making to its roots with zine making workshops. Please follow us to find out who is coming this year!

Auditorium Market

The main attraction of the weekend will be the zine and comic market situated in the auditorium. This is the place for you to interact with zine and indie comic creatives at the event. You can purchase content from stall holders here, but we also encourage zine and comic trades, so consider this culture of sharing! We will also have an overhead projector in the auditorium showcasing artistic talents of the brave public onto the big screen! Please sign up with us on the day, or in advance if this is something you would like to try!

Mezanine Panels 

We have an exciting lineup of guests contributing their unique talent and talking all things indie publishing, but we need funds to support them. What would an arts festival be without fair pay for artists? We want people who come to ZICS to walk away feeling inspired and better equipped to persue their creative projects, so we aim to foster panels and workshops that range from deep and introspective discussions to fun and educational presentations.

Foyer Workshops

We hire professionals to share their passion and creativity with the public, bringing the element of accesibility in zine making to its roots with zine making workshops. Please follow us to find out who is coming this year!
