Help bring an important story to the stage
An opportunity has arisen for Timorese actor and producer Jose da Costa to perform in a theatre production in Sydney in April.
Jose is in Darwin.
The stage is in Sydney.
Time is short.
We need your support to bring an important story about Timor-Leste and Australia to the stage.
About the play
Greater Sunrise is a new Australian play about the fraught history between Timor-Leste and Australia, centring on the spying scandal over billions of dollars of resources in the Timor Sea. Jose will play the role of Meta, a playful translator who knows more than he is letting on.

Why?
All of the costs of the production are covered. Great! But to make the production a reality, we need financial support for Jose to travel to Sydney, stay in basic accommodation and cover his costs while rehearsing for 3 weeks and performing for 2.5 weeks.
About Jose
Jose da Costa played the lead role of Tomas in A Guerra da Beatriz, Timor-Leste's first feature film. He is a co-founder of Dili Film Works. Other acting credits include Balibo and Answered by Fire. He co-wrote, co-produced and narrated the animated film Jose's Story.

Potential Challenges
Our major challenge is raising the funds in time. As long as we raise enough to book flights and the first week of accommodation for Jose, we can make the production happen.
