The DDP (Decentralised Dance Party) is a portable, battery-powered Party System.

It consists of hundreds of Party People, carrying boomboxes, and a DJ who wears a backpack, containing an FM radio transmitter.

All the boomboxes are tuned into the DJ’s master FM broadcast, resulting in a mobile, synchronized sound system. This Portable Dance Party roams the night, generating complete awesomeness, street by street and block by block, onto buses and tramways, into public fountains and beyond. Inevitably interfacing with the public, together we create an infectious epidemic of fun. A Roaming Party Adventure that lasts all night long!

Participants become performers and inhibitions are overwhelmed as we all rise together in a chaotic and joyful monument to the Human Spirit. Together, we awaken the raw and beautiful rhythm and adventure-craving instincts ingrained in our DNA that have been subverted since childhood in our sterile western cultures and our collective energy projects everyone to unparalleled heights of happiness for hours on end.

How Else Can You Help?

The funds will be used towards the following:

- Expanding the DDP fleet. This is our primary concern, with a growing participant base, we need bigger sound. Bigger Sound = More Party. It's a very simple equation. The bulk of money will be invested in expanding DDP infrastructure as well as repairing the many broken boomboxes we have from previous DDPs.

We would like to add about 40 boomboxes to the fleet, at a rough cost of $25 a piece, that's about $1000 down already. The broken boomboxes should be an easy enough fix, but we'll need money for solder and potentially new pots/switches.

- Another Li-Ion battery pack for the transmitter. The one we currently use gives us about 4.5 hours of life, another one will allow us to party for up to 9 hours. They cost about $400.

- Batteries. We spend roughly $500 a party just in batteries alone. The remaining money, plus an extra if we go over, will be used to off-set the cost batteries for the season. We're doing 4 DDPs this season, so that's $2000 on batteries that will be spent before we even expand the fleet.
