SYNOPSIS
Esther's a 14 year old Liberian born girl living with her mother, Sarah, in Geelong for the past 9 years. She's reunited with her estranged father, Daniel, after he's finally been accepted into Australia. As Daniel tries to impose his traditional cultural values onto the women, Esther is confronted by a man and a homeland that she cannot even remember. Will they be able to put these cultural differences aside and reconnect as a family?

Esther is the lead actress in our film, she embodies the character so much that we have named it after her!
Vohn is a popular Liberian gospel singer who has just arrived in Australia. With his charm and natural talent he is the perfect person to portray the character of Daniel.

Why Geelong?
We will be shooting in Corio Bay, near Geelong. It’s where the story began for Johnny as he discovered the large refugee population living there, and started learning more about them. For the past year and a half Johnny has been working closely with the Liberian community to bring this story to life, such as running acting classes and script workshops.
This project is also supported by Diversitat, a not-for-profit community service group that support the multicultural communities and the disadvantaged in the region of Geelong.

The Challenges
Of course the greatest challenge of making films is raising the money, and that is ten fold for short films! With your support now, we'll be able to go straight into production/post production. This film will then find it's life on the festival circuit, any additional funds will contribute towards entry fees, and will raise awareness for the Liberian community in Geelong.
