The year is 2012. A video signal travels across oceans and continents from a camera in New York. Rina-chan’s voice echoes through speakers and the beginning of BronyCon is brought to computer screens all over the world.
This was a moment of amazing joy for all of us. We cheered and we yelled, we hastily calculated costs for the trip there.
Many of us paused and sighed at our bank accounts and wallets as we realized that we could never afford to fly over and stay for more than a day.
Brony conventions have been around for three years and are blooming in the West. Not so much in the East.
Now is the time for us to step up to the plate and make Singapore an even more noticeable little red dot than before!
That’s right! We’re bringing the party to YOU!
Canterlot University will be Singapore’s FIRST My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic convention for bronies by bronies. It’ll be two amazing days of ponies, friends and fun! From the 21st to the 22nd of June, Canterlot University will be a party you do not want to miss (bring your friends too! The more the merrier!)

Perks
Due to the character limits on the Pozible perks, here are the descriptions of our perks available:
Extended Play
An Extended Play is like a small version of a normal Album. For example, a normal album would have 11 songs whilst an Extended Play may only have up to 6 songs. This is an ideal perk for those who love music but are on a budget!
Honorable Mentions
For pledgers under $70, we will include your name on our webpage under the Honorable Mentions Tab. For the people who pledge $70 and above, you get your name written in Calligraphy on a Dean's Wall. You may take pictures next to your name during the photo-taking sessions. This is to ensure that nobody vandalizes the Dean's Wall. You will also have the option of requesting a Dean's list certificate for you to keep. However, requesting for a certificate will cost you SGD5.
Comic
Our comic book will be completely fanmade. Some of our participating artists are lobelia2440, nabiRAR, PauWijNg and FallenInTheDark. Refer to "Some of my other work" to see their works of art.

Extended Play

Ticketing
The Challenges
We have taken a look at the successes and failures of the other conventions and listed below are some risks how we will counter these risks.
Venue:
Venue was a huge problem for many of the conventions that didn't turn out too well. Some got overcrowded, some didn't have a venue whilst others had a venue too extravagant for their con-goers
We have considered all the convention venues available in Singapore and picked 3 out of the numerous venues. Just in case one venue backs out, we still have 2 other venues to choose from. This ensures us a venue for the convention. Secondly, we will use this campaign to gauge the amount of con-goers that will be attending. We won't be using the exact value here, but we will estimate a slighty higher value and ensure our venues can accommodate the expected turnout.
Money:
Some conventions which ended up badly either racked up huge amounts of debts without any plans of paying, didn't estimate their budget very well or assumed that they'd get the funds through merchandise sales during the convention. This led to their inability to run the convention and/or a disaster that others had to clean up.
A convention which didn't manage to materialize released some information about their convention. Apparently, when they estimated their budget, they did not leave any leeway for incidental costs or unexpected costs. They also assumed that they'd recoup losses from merchandise sales.
Our committee members in our accounting department has clocked in several hours, looking for the realistic prices for our perks, set up costs etc. They have crunched the numbers and after rounding up the numbers, we have reached the minimum set up cost of 28,000 Singapore Dollars (SGD). From there, our committee decided to host many fund-raising events to help fund the convention. This was to ensure that we'd get enough funds and possibly a surplus.
We also made sure to appeal to those not in the brony community by including slightly pony related music in our album. We will be performing some of the songs live at various venues in Singapore and possibly Malaysia. This will be done to alert the closet bronies and to get more people to buy our album which will contribute to the con.
Guests and hype:
A particular convention did not materialize because they lacked hype and attention. Though they contacted show guests and many organizations, they were forgotten either because they didn't maintain contact with them or simply because they were so forgettable. Due to this, they didn't have much funds to go on, there was no star appeal and this therefore led to their inability to operate.
Our Public Relations Officers have been keeping constant contact with the show guests, sending them e-mails every few weeks if they get no replies for an extended period of time. We have gotten a lot of hype from our Something Awesome Is Coming hype-builder project. We have also gotten affiliation with PonyVille Live, The MBS Show and Collateral Damage Studios. We periodically send them updates and new banners (if necessary) to keep the hype and awareness in the brony community. We have also posted on reddit and derpibooru to alert bronies of other regions too.
