Help me self publish my poetry book ‘Gone Dotty’.

My poems are fun, silly, thoughtful and hopefully moving. Nothing too airy-fairy. Instead, just easy accessible poems that everyone can enjoy over a cup of tea and a bun. Poems for kids, for oldies and for everyone in between. I'm hoping to include 70 original poems.

I want to bring my poetry to the grubby masses of Australia! (Especially the grubby masses on the Central Coast of NSW!)

PRE-ORDER book: There are several rewards which allow you to pre-order a copy of the book, the more I can sell up front, the more feasible it makes the publishing.

Who the heck am I?

I'm a writer, poet and copywriter living on the Central Coast with my husband, son and dog.

I'm an active member of the Australian Poetry Society. I've had over 30 short plays performed across Australia, in the US, Europe, Singapore and the UK. My plays have won several awards, as well as being developed into short films.

I'm the resident poet for the fashion brand, Lydra, and a member of the Friday Night Poets here in Woy Woy.

The book is being compiled as part of my residency at Gnostic Mana part of the Australian Poetry Cafe Poet scheme.

Sample Poem: Dreams of Evolution

I can think of nothing sadder than a goldfish in a bowl.

Swimming in tight circles, such a lonely fishy soul.

With your tiny bulbous eyes, that pine to see the sea.

Longing for a little lover, to share your dull eternity.

All you have for company is a silly plastic weed.

Nothing to look forward to, except tomorrow’s feed.

Some pathetic grubby pebbles form your universe’s base.

I see nothing but depression written on your orange face.

Is your memory so short that this all seems brand new?

Or is that 18-second thing entirely untrue?

Do you ever go to sleep in the darkness of the night?

And dream of evolution, growing wings and taking flight?

Such iridescent beauty, you’re the bauble of the sea.

And if you were my finned captive, I’d be sure to set you free.

Where is the money going?

I’ll be spending any money I manage to raise purely on the cost of publishing my book. I have set a funding goal of $1000 which I will put towards the total costs. These include:

$200 - Proof reading

$1000 - Printing 200 copies

$250 - Cover design

$300 - Type setting

$400 - Barcode set up, ISBN, submission to relevant directories etc

$400 - Amazon set up

$200- Ebook set up 

$2750 + GST TOTAL

This makes the unit cost of each book around $13.75.
I'd like to charge around $15 for the book when it's finished.

IF I raise the full amount (or even more!! ) I'll use the extra funds to create some postcards and posters and other marketing material for the book.
