Help Us Build 808’s SimPlay Billiards & Arcade

808’s Arcade, will be a Pool Hall and Arcade located in the Maryborough CBD, where people will come together to play Billiards/8Ball, Race on the state of the art Racing Simulators, have fun on the range of latest arcade games, play trading card games with your mates and catch up with friends over a coffee at the Pitstop Cafe. This venture fills a gap in the entertainment space in the Maryborough district and will provide a benefit to the local community through its family friendly and fun atmosphere.

What We’re Building

What we plan to include:

• 10 competition spec billiards Tables and  one or two 12’ Snooker Tables
• 10 State of the art Racing Simulators
• A selection of the latest Arcade Games and Pinball, Air Hockey etc
• Claw machines and other amusement games
• Pit Stop Cafe - Drinks, Coffee and food (tbd)
• A dedicated space for birthday parties, gatherings, and special events - including trading card gamers
• Additional seating and community space

Our goal is to create a place that works for families, gamers, kids, teens, adults, and anyone looking for something fun to do locally.

Why We’re Asking for Help and How Your Financial Support will Assist

We have the vision, and a community that needs an entertainment space for all ages.  What we need now is help covering the startup costs that come with transforming a former retail centre into a clean, welcoming, fully functional arcade and gathering space.

Kickstarter funds will help us with things like securing the Building Lease,  shop renovations - professional shop design and fit-out, kitchen and food-service setup, purchase of pool tables and equipment, simulators and other business operating hardware/software, signage, initial food and beverage inventory, furnishings, and other equipment needed to get the project ready to open.

We’re investing in this project ourselves too, but the Kickstarter will help us complete the build-out faster and avoid cutting corners on the things that matter most.

Why the 808’s SimPlay Billiards & Arcade Matters

808’s Arcade will become a place where people come together to play games, meet friends, join tournaments, and be part of a community. We want this to be more than just an arcade. We want it to be a place where people can come spend time together, grab something to eat or drink, celebrate a birthday, play games, or simply have somewhere fun and welcoming to go.  We can host Pool tournaments, Simulated Racing leagues, host School Sport programmes, Youth groups and other local group/corporate events.

What Happens If We Exceed Our Goal?

If we are fortunate enough to exceed our Kickstarter goal, the additional funding will go right back into making 808’s Arcade the best that it can be.  The biggest overall cost with a project of this scale is the equipment.  Pool tables and Racing simulators make up the biggest percentage of overall set up costs.  The best of the best equipment comes at a high cost.

One of our biggest goals is to provide a safe and family friendly atmosphere, where you can come and be entertained.

Risks and challenges

Like any new project 808’s Arcade set up comes with a few challenges. We are working through approvals, inspections, equipment ordering, and all of the other steps required to open the space properly.

Some costs or timelines may change as work continues, especially with renovations, equipment availability, and unexpected issues that can come up when opening a new business. We are already actively working through these items and have begun investigating the building required and other associated set up processes.

Our goal is to keep moving forward carefully, communicate openly with our backers, and make sure 808’s Arcade is opened safely and correctly rather than rushing the process.
