As a South Australian, what does riding a bike mean to you? Whether it’s through poetry, short literature, images or visual art, help us bare the state’s bike soul by contributing to our “essence of cycling” Bike Art Zine.

The zine will be an attractive publication you’ll be proud to own, packed with bike-related words and images that speak to your heart – and which we can use as physical evidence for the love of riding.

This is advocacy from the heart, by the bike community for everyone to enjoy.

Guidelines for contributors are on our website, but as a volunteer-led community group we also need your help to fund it into print, which is why we've launched this Pozible campaign.

Loud, proud and visible - this is your chance to get behind Bike Adelaide (and South Australia's) Bike Art Zine.

The Bike Art Zine will be a quality A5 booklet with 24 pages, full colour printing both on the cover and inside, and saddle stitch (staple) binding. And, as a community project, no advertising! We've decided to offer the zine at $6 (around the same as a cup of coffee.) Our direct contribution to the project will be the production (volunteer management + paying a graphic artist for the curation and layout). We'll also pay the printing cost for a quantity we want to retain for advocacy reasons.

Our initial goal for the project to go ahead is $600 - equivalent to pre-ordering just 100 copies. Along with our direct contribution, this will allow us to fund the printing (incl shipping) of 500 copies.

A stretch goal of $1,200 (i.e. an additional $600) will allow us to expand to 32 pages of bicycle-related lusciousness.

And a stretch goal of $1,800 - still equivalent to a pre-order of just 300 copies - will enable us to opt for perfect binding (squared spine), which is a nice detail that allows the zine to sit flatter when open.

If there is demand for more than 500 copies, we will absolutely increase the number printed to suit - and to review the budget, content and timeframes to see whether we are able to increase the number of pages. 

Any returns from the sale of zines above the printing cost will be directed to our advocacy work.
