G’day, we’re Billy and Daniel, Year 6 students from the Sunshine Coast — and this crowdfunding campaign is being managed by our parents, on our behalf.
We both love to fish.
We rely on our parents to take us fishing, because…
• It’s too dangerous to carry all our gear on bikes.
• It’s too heavy to carry far on foot.
• And our parents aren’t always free when the fish are biting!
That’s how we came up with the Fishmobile — a trailer that connects to a bike or can be pulled by hand, giving kids freedom to fish when and where they want.
The Fishmobile gets kids outdoors — great for fitness, friendship, mental health, and keeping kids off screens — and it’s better for the environment than driving. If 100 kids ride a bike with the Fishmobile twice a week instead of being driven, we save around 10 tonnes of CO₂ every year!
With 1.4 million Australians cycling AND fishing, and up to 1,000 people a month searching for a product like this, the market potential is huge. We couldn’t find another product like it. With shipping from just $23, we aim to sell online and through stores like BCF.
We’re committed to donating 10% of all Fishmobile profits to Ozfish — helping clean rivers and teaching kids to care for the environment.
The Fishmobile holds two 10-litre standard eskies that slide into aluminium tracks so they don’t move while towing. There’s room for extra gear and four rod holders — perfect for different rods or a mate to join you.
The waterproof fabric liner stops smaller gear from falling through, covers everything like a lid, and comes off easily for cleaning. The Fishmobile has three points of contact for balance, so it won’t tip over even when fully loaded. We’ve checked Australian Safety Standards and added reflectors and signs so it’s safe and easy to spot.
It’s made from aluminium — strong, light, and one of the most recyclable materials in the world.
A local trailer manufacturer said a retail price around $249–$299 is realistic, with total production costs under $150.
In future, we’ll build three sizes — Pilchard, Flattie, and a large GT family version — and could adapt the hitch for e-bikes.
We could also add optional extras like a ruler, light, bin and first aid kit — helping kids fish safely and responsibly.
Budget Overview
We've already built our first working prototype, using a trailer kit for the hitch and wheels, and aluminium tube for the frame. Our next goal is to make a welded Fishmobile, so it's a final product design that can be mass produced. We are asking for $2000 to achieve this.
