Greyge Gardens is an independent graduate collective of four fashion students looking to explore varied forms of fashion through film. Within the collective structure we are looking to create a short film that collectively explores our individual concepts and the merging lines between them through the visual narrative.

The film premiere event Sh*t, Shave & Shampoo will beaninvitation only screening on Wednesday 30th October, at Longplay in Northcote. This will consist of multiple, intimate screenings of the film throughout the evening. We intend to inviteRMITstaff, members of the local fashion and creative community, members of the press and those involved with the production of the film.

In order to release the film on a larger scale we are creating a website that will launch alongside the screening event. This will coincide with extended online coverage that includesGreyge Gardens social media and websites, as well as the hiring of igtv and/or online space from established media.We are also looking to submit our film to a number of local and international competitions to further promote our practice as a group and individually.Greyge Gardens looks to expand the reach of our audience through multiple digital platforms, keeping a mindset of local production with an international outlook. We are excited to develop our work as a collective and further our achievements on an individual basis as we engage with an expanded community of creatives.

Creative Proposal

‘It’s very difficult to keep the line between the past and the present.’ (Little Edie).

The film ‘title yet to be decided’ collectively explores our 4 individual concepts while blurring the lines of reality. Paying homage tothe documentary GreyGardens, thisdistortion of consciousnesstravels through a life in the day of characters as they sift through their mind.

Poking fun at ideas of conformity andfashioned bodies performing within spaces, the film exploresa way of living through a voyeuristic lens. Lo-fi filming and curation techniques elicit an experience of pre-existing narratives, the continuation of a story tol, re-experienced. Soundforms a space of boundless atmosphere and theatrical milieu; static, vivid, unsteady and unsettling. Travelling through the narrative, each vignette tells a new story at a different time of day, but appears as a continuum, the repetition of the everyday. With an introspective aim to confuse and intrigue, you can’t turn away as you see yourmemories repeated, re-experienced, reformed, an old vision of self.

The funds raised here will be soley used to ensure the production of this film. All funds will be used for supporting young creatives, local talent and the creation of the film. The budget will cover the costs of hiring each team member to shoot the film, post-production work, accomodation, travel, and feeding and watering of all those involved. Any remaining funds will be spent on the official launch event, and advertising of the film both online and for hiring sites/website fees. This is a not-for-profit film and event.
