The Project

We see Host as the 'Home of Events on the Coast' and our vision is to bring people together to experience magical moments on common ground. 

Host is a platform that allows you to create, host, staff, fill, and find events on the Gold Coast so that we can give ourselves, and each other, more opportunities to experience magical moments in our lives. 

Gold Coast

Both Monika and I have recently relocated to the Gold Coast and have seen and felt the beauty of the region. We have come to learn that this area was, among other things, a popular meeting place for aboriginal tribes, often during the summer months and it was where tribes would reunite, celebrate and commune. It was referred to as Kurrungul and we love the idea of re-hydrating the originating energy of the Gold Coast and to bring people together today. 

We hope that Host is way for people on the Coast to enjoy more of what this area has to offer and for people to visit and experience the Gold Coast for themselves.

Please note that your pledge / donation does not go through unless we hit our target, and so every gesture of support is huge as far as we are concerned!

Host will help, service, and support the following:

People 

Not only can you search for and find all types of events across the Coast, but you can also create and host your own events through the platform. This can be a small gathering with friends, a juggling whilst riding a unicycle afternoon, or a major music event. You will be able to see what acts and performers are at events you are attending and then contact / follow them to see their future events and to hire them for your own. You can ask acts to bid to perform at your event, you can ask venues to bid to Host your event, and you can hire a whole range of staff from private chefs, waiters and waitresses, security personnel, event equipment vendors, photographers and of course - balloon magicians :)

Artists, Acts & Performers
If you are an Artist and/or Performer looking to showcase your talent then you can create an 'Act' profile on the platform. You can create and grow a following via your profile page (with links to your other social media pages) so that people can see what you are up to and when your next gig is. You can also search for events that are looking for someone like you and you can bid to perform at their event.

Event Managers & Venues

Host will allow existing venues to promote, staff, and fill their events. Venues can also advertise their availability to Hosts for private and public event bookings . Event Managers can also use the platform to engage with event attendees and potential attendees in the lead up to events.

Event Suppliers

The platform will also enable event equipment suppliers, food and beverage vendors, and other event related service providers to promote their services as well as allowing attendees (and potential event Hosts) to know that it was you that has helped to put the event together.  Event suppliers will be able to have their own profile on the app and be able to bid to supply upcoming events as well as enabling Hosts to find you.

Why Host is Different 

We have used facebook events, meetup, and other event platforms such as eventbrite and humanitix however Host not only brings together all of the most important and valuable functionality, but importantly it brings together all of the people that are involved in putting together amazing Gold Coast events and it gives you the power to create and Host your own.

The platform will also have a ticketing and payment function so that Acts and staff can be paid for their services and Hosts and venues can receive income for paid events that they create and manage.

Safety & Security
Helping to ensure your safety is of paramount importance to us. Host will enable you to hire your own security personnel for your events and we aim to include security functionality such as event check-ins and check-outs via the app. 

Corporate Citizenship

Should Host become a roaring success then we already have plans in place for how we would grow the business and what type of business we would be. Monika and I are extremely passionate about helping the business community be a force for good in the world and we have a philospohy that "where we do business, we do good". 

We would invest time, energy, and money into projects and ventures that help to provide the Gold Coast community with more of what it needs and to help the region further flourish. We would also work hard to make Host a great place to work as we understand the importance of putting our people first and embodying our values within the organisations that we lead.

Budget & Timeframes

We have recieved a quote from an overseas app development firm and Andrew will work closely with the design team during the development process (Andrew has a degree in Information Systems and relevant experience). We will be able to build a functioning app in 10-12 weeks which will allow us to have the platform out in the market and into your hands before the end of the year. We intend to engage with our supporters throughout our journey as we want you to help us build it by suggested ideas and giving us feedback. We want the creation and launch of Host to be the first way in which the app brings people together to experience a magical moment! 

Launch Party

We want to make Host's first main event the app launch party and we want you to be there! More details to come on this but the greater the support the greater the party!
