Jayda's Debut EP
My name is Jayda Jean and I am a 16-year-old singer-songwriter from the Upper Yarra Valley (east of Melbourne). I am asking for help to record my debut EP. The length of the album depends on the support that I gain from friends, family and you.
Here is a bit about me first...
I grew up in a musical family and wrote, recorded and toured with my dad's band Woody's World. Perhaps the most famous song that Dad and I wrote in these early days was Catch the Leaves.
Touring with Dad and my siblings in the family band was amazing. I also played music at school and started doing a few gigs on my own with my battery-powered amp, guitar and ukulele.
In 2018 at the age of 12, I entered an original song in the ACMF National Songwriting Competition. A few weeks later I got the call that I won! Here is the recording session for that song: Take Me in Your Arms
Fast forward to 2022 and I have two songs recorded professionally which are on Spotify, I have won a second national songwriting award (click on 2020), I have started gigging around Adelaide and Melbourne at festivals and events and I have two singles on Spotify with over 21,000 streams.
The Debut EP...
Now it is time to record the catalogue of songs I have written over the past two years. I am really proud of these songs and I desperately want to capture them in the studio with a professional sound. But recording is expensive and I need help to complete my debut EP. I have enlisted the help of 3 producers - Kaicey Fukuda (aka Nobuki), Ned Machin (aka. Ned.) and Reyjah Simpson Roberts, as well at my dad (Woody) and Simon Russell (Deep Switch Studios). We plan to have a live launch in both Adelaide and Melbourne in late 2022.
