This is Brendan here, the founder and director of The Movement Academy for almost 11 years.

I'm going to be very transparent with you, because that's how I'd want to be treated… The Movement Academy is behind on rent, and I need to raise $89,000 by 28 August to keep us open.

Funding the relocation in July last year was always going to be a challenge, but I was on track until two pieces of hard news in May sent TMA into a financial downward spiral. A long term payment arrangement for rent was the only saving grace, but now that I have failed that arrangement, the full amount owing is due.

I want to be clear about what's actually at stake: if we don't reach this target, TMA will not be able to continue operating. I understand that this news will bring up many different feelings, and I am truly sorry.

I am not asking for handouts. What I'm offering instead is for you to back the studio in exchange for something real… membership credit, exclusive experiences, custom merchandise and of course to be recognised (if you wish) as one of the people who helped keep this place standing when it mattered.

This is an all-or-nothing campaign. If we don't hit $89,000 by 28 August, every single pledge is automatically and fully refunded. You're either helping us cross the line, or getting your money straight back.

If you've ever felt stronger, calmer, or more like yourself because of TMA, you understand what’s at stake… A beautiful community having access to the space that they use for their physical and (most importantly) mental health, as well as a team of professional coaches working in an unstable industry.

The Movement Academy is not just a gym… It is an oasis for over 100 adults and 50 children, rich in cultural diversity and a very high population of neuro diverse, gender non-conforming, and LGBTQIA+ humans. We have become a safe space for so many minorities who struggle in a world where acceptance and open mindedness still has a long way to go.

I built this place to last for those vital reasons, but I’ve run out options.

TMA needs $88,753 to bring our rent up to date and move onto a bright future.

I am keeping the investment structure very simple… Apart from a few exclusive experiences, there is the option to invest any amount that you can. We will match that amount plus an additional 20% as credit to use on any purchases at TMA i.e. $500 investment equals $600 credit.

The credit will be fully transferrable with no expiry.

In an incredible world where we reach this target, any excess funds will be put towards clearing up outstanding bills, invoices and private loans.
