Peaceful Protest for a Better World

We are at a crossroads.
Brutal new anti-protest laws threaten our organisation's very existence and we urgently need your help.
For over 10 years, Bob Brown Foundation’s peaceful protests have helped win critical victories for the environment.
- Stopping the removal of 72,000 hectares of Tasmania’s World Heritage Area for logging and mining
- Halting the logging of Swift Parrot habitat on Bruny Island
- Forcing the government to abandon plans for a massive concrete airport in Antarctica
- Saving hundreds of hectares of takayna's ancient forests from logging
Most recently, our peaceful protests, spanning over 520 days with some 90 arrests, prevented Chinese state-owned mining giant MMG from starting work on a massive mine-waste dump, which would bury 140 hectares of ancient takayna’s rainforest under toxic sludge.
With the accelerating climate and biodiversity crises happening right before our eyes, governments know they can never win public support for the ongoing destruction of the natural world.
So they are using draconian anti-protest laws to silence environmentalists.

NSW, Victoria and Tasmania have all introduced laws that target environmentalists with huge fines and prison sentences.
In Tasmania, this means fines of over $13,000 and 18 months prison for peaceful protesters and fines of over $45,000 for an organisation.
These laws have one purpose. To protect the Earth-destroying corporations and to inflict punishing silence on anyone who dares stand in their way.

In Tasmania, these laws are intended to destroy Bob Brown Foundation.
We will not give up our defence of the natural world. We will not go quietly into the night.
But we are realistic about the threat that these new laws pose to our organisation and its activists.
If our foundation were found guilty under these new laws, that criminal conviction would cancel our charity status and remove our tax deductibility, with potentially huge impacts on our income.

This will be the most demanding and costly challenge we have ever faced.
Our fight to protect takayna's ancient rainforests, save the koala from extinction, end native forest logging and stop rampant industrial fish farming depends on your support, now more than ever before.
It is critical that we raise enough funds to help us survive this incredibly challenging period before our tax-deductibility status is at risk.
Your pledge will support our ongoing defence of the natural world.
And it's a powerful reminder that you are standing with us, as we continue to take Action for Earth.

Budget Overview
If we were to lose our charity status because of these appalling new laws it would severely affect our income.
It is critical that we raise the funds we need right now, to help us survive this attack on our organisation.
We will keep taking peaceful action to save our forests, wildlife and oceans.
All funds raised will support our ongoing peaceful protests and will be used to pay for equipment, legal fees, food, safety gear and all the resources needed to maintain our defence of the natural world.
