UPDATE: our trusty zodiac is dead!

So we've stretched our fundraising target! Can you chip in and help us get a new one?

After years and years of transporting our volunteers and a squillion pieces of rubbish through the most rugged swells imaginable, our trusty Team Clean zodiac has finally bitten the dust :( And our clever satellite comms and data device is on its last legs. BOOOOOO!!!!

So we've stretched our fundraising target to a whopping $12,500, which will cover the cost of a new zodiac and a satellite device and data!  

We have big dreams and a whole lotta rubbish to remove, but we need the gear to transport it (and us), from the beach to the boats ♡

Can you help us protect these special wild places?

Tasmania's remote southwest coast is home to some of the most beautiful and inaccessible beaches on the planet. These special places form part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.

But a toxic wave of plastic pollution is threatening to destroy these delicate coastal ecosystems. 

Every single day, thousands of pieces of rubbish wash onto our amazing World Heritage beaches, polluting ancient middens, choking our oceans and killing precious marine life and sea birds.

Luckily, Team Clean are on the case! We are a 100% not-for-profit volunteer expedition dedicated to protecting some of Australia's wildest and most remote coastlines.

This March, a dedicated team of our expert volunteer beach cleaners will embark on another epic expedition. We'll be slogging our guts out to clean up the mountain of rubbish that washes up on these beautiful World Heritage beaches.

We are committed to making 2021 the biggest cleanup yet!

Yep. That's not a typo - the 2020 expedition cleaned up 66,752 pieces of rubbish from these beautiful beaches. We know this because every single night, after a long day's work cleaning, our volunteer team painstakingly counts and classifies a mountain of trash on deck.

Cleaning up these incredibly remote ecosystems doesn’t come cheap. By donating to this 100% non-profit volunteer expedition, you can do your bit to support this important work and help us protect this beautiful wild coastline.

Since 1999, this dedicated team of Tasmania's most extreme beach cleaners have removed and documented well over half a million pieces of rubbish from the World Heritage Area.

The cleanup is a powerful tool for public education, advocacy and behaviour change. It plays a unique part in the global campaign to tackle marine debris, protect our oceans and promote smart and practical solutions to this mega problem.

Cleaning up some of the world’s most remote and inaccessible beaches does not come cheap. 

Most of the beaches targeted by the cleanup are accessible only by sea via fishing boats and dinghies, piloted by some of Tasmania's finest and most highly-skilled skippers, who volunteer their time to make sure the team gets ashore safely.

By making a donation to this 100% volunteer-run non-profit expedition, you will be contributing to:

• The significant transport costs required to access these remote areas;
• High energy food to keep our hardy volunteers out on the beaches and cleaning for as long as possible each day;
• The purchasing of essential tools to help us with the rubbish collection and with the important collection of data, so we can measure not only our progress, but the long term impacts of marine debris on the wild beaches of Tasmania’s west coast.
